Wedding Candy 101

We’re so excited to be a part of the Wedding Palace 2010 Bridal Show this weekend and we thought, in keeping with our weekend, we’d share details on some of the services we offer as well as some insider tips for if you’re thinking of incorporating candy and treats into your wedding or event.

Candy Buffets? Yes! Candy buffets are a huge hit and add that extra element of interest and excitement you might be looking to add to your event. At The Candy Store we can help you navigate the endless stream of sugar to come up with just the right selections for your event based on theme, flavour or colour. Our experience has shown that left overs, while sometimes hoped for, are rare! One of our favourite tips to share relates to this: you’re going to be so busy on your big day that aside from taking a quick peek at the buffet, you might not have the time to load up on the sweets yourself. Ask one of your attendants or friends to fill up a little bag just for you so that you don’t miss out on the decadent goodies if you get stuck on the dance floor or posing for “just one more picture!”

Two recent additions to our buffet catalogue are cupcakes and macarons. The Cupcake Lounge provides us with moist and beautiful little cakes that can compliment any event. Using them in place of a cake, as favors or on your buffet table is sure to put a smile on your guests’ faces. Macarons, which we recently gushed about, not only make beautiful and delicate guest favors, but also can be placed on a candy buffet table in a very impressive cone display. The macarons can be eaten right off the display to the delight of your guests. For your delight they can be colour and flavour themed as well to really complete the look of your candy buffet.

Speaking of favors, we can’t forget those thoughtful little reminders of appreciation. The possibilities are limitless and can be customized based on your theme, colours or favourites. Built to suit any budget, we have a comprehensive selection of container and box options available at The Candy Store and can help you find the right way to say thank you to your guests. We highly recommend placing your favors on each place setting if you’re having a seated meal: if prepared in your chosen even colours, the favors add an added element of décor to your tables and help ensure each guest receives their favor.

Want to talk about your wedding or event with us but can’t make it to the Wedding Palace Bridal Show? We would love to set aside some time to discuss your event! Contact the store or email us and one of our Wedding and Event Coordinators will happily book a consultation appointment with you to explore (and taste!) all of your options and tailor our services to suit your occasion. Not getting married in town but still have questions or need help? Our Wedding and Event Coordinators would still be happy to meet with you and see what we can do to help you incorporate a little sweetness.

One final tip: give yourself some time. We recommend, if possible, making buffet or favor arrangements at least 8 weeks before your event. One very important reason for this is weather: candy and chocolate do not like weather extremes and many specialty confectioners try to avoid shipping in extreme weather situations. And, let's be honest, it's nice to have one less to-do on your plate as your event date draws near. Let us help you tackle this tasty to-do and get it off your mind.
