Cornin' Around
I spy with my little eye, something that is yellow on the bottom, orange in the middle, and white on top… Need another hint? This triangular shaped candy has a smooth, creamy, caramel, marshmallow-like flavour...(are you drooling yet?) If you haven’t guessed it already, it’s Candy Corn!

In honour of this Halloween favourite, we would like to everyone to know that October 30th is National Candy Corn Day. We hope you celebrate this day by… well, eating some! Want to hear a fun fact? According to the
National Confectioners Association, 35 million pounds of Candy Corn will be produced this year. That’s enough to circle the moon nearly 21 times if laid end-to-end!
This delectable treat has been around for more than 100 years and was first popular among farmers in the 1900s but because of the lack of machinery to produce it, it was only enjoyed seasonally from March to November. Can you imagine not being able to have Candy Corn every day?!? They must have been so deprived...Ok, a little overdramatic but do not fret because now, “you can have your ‘corn’ and eat it too”… year round AND in a different variety of colours and flavours depending on the holiday. WoooHoo! We know this is a little corny (pun fully intended) but on October 30th we will eat some candy corn proudly and say a big thanks to the creator, George Renninger – yes, the candy man can!
Remember to stop by The Candy Store this Halloween with your trick or treaters! We’ll be handing out treats all day in our best Halloween gear! Ain’t life sweet?!
